MCDANIEL NAMES THOMPSON COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

LITTLE ROCK - Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced today that he has named Julie Johnson Thompson as his Office's Director of Communications.

Thompson, of Little Rock, is a veteran journalist and public relations practitioner who most recently was communications director at the Arkansas Department of Education.

"We're thrilled to have Julie on our communications team," McDaniel said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. She will be a valuable asset to this office and the state as we talk to the people of Arkansas about the work and goals of their Attorney General's Office."

Before joining the Department of Education in 2005, Thompson was director of communications and events at the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce. She previously was an editor for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, associate editor for U.S. News and World Report and reporter for the Arkansas Gazette.

A native of Hot Springs, Thompson is a Hendrix College graduate and has a master's degree from the University of North Carolina. She is a past president of the Arkansas Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.
