Tire Recall Details

August 10, 2007 LITTLE ROCK- Today, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced the details of a tire recall instituted by New Jersey-based Foreign Tire Sales, Inc. On August 2, 2007, Attorney General McDaniel issued a consumer alert advising Arkansans of the proposed recall. The tires subject to the recall were sold for light trucks, sports utility vehicles (SUVs), and vans. The tires that Foreign Tire Sales, Inc. has identified as potentially dangerous were made by Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co. Ltd. (HZ) in China and distributed in the United States under the following names Westlake Compass YKS The specific tire numbers and sizes affected by this recall are as follows: LT235/75R-15 CR861 CR857 LT245/75R-16 CR860 CR861 CR857 LT265/75R-16 CR860 CR861 CR857 LT235/85R-16 CR860 CR861 CR857 LT31X10.5R-15 CR861 CR857 Consumers who purchased any of the above mentioned tires should call the toll free number 1-888-899-9293 or go online at www.foreigntire.com to obtain a claim information packet and questionnaire. Once a claim packet is received, consumers should complete the form and take those tires to the dealer from which they purchased them for a no cost replacement. If the consumer cannot return the tire to the dealership from which they made the initial purchase, then the consumer should contact the toll-free number for the name and address of a dealer that will replace the tires at no cost. The deadline to submit a claim for these tires is October 25, 2007. To be safe, I encourage all Arkansans to act swiftly in checking their tires and determining whether they may be affected by this recall, said Attorney General McDaniel.
