Identity theft is a common and frightening problem for consumers. ID theft occurs when personal information like credit cards, driver’s licenses, ATM cards and Social Security numbers are wrongfully obtained and misused. Nearly 18 million Americans are victims of ID theft every year in the United States.
The Attorney General’s office assists Arkansans with questions or complaints as a result of ID theft. In partnership with the Federal Trade Commission, the Attorney General’s office provides a book for consumers, available at no cost, which contains information and how-to tips to resolve any identity theft issues.
