Metal Theft Prevention
In July 2015, Attorney General Rutledge created an initiative to combat metal theft, which harmed Arkansas businesses, farms, schools, homes and churches.
The Metal Theft Prevention Program addresses the problem that too many scrapyards have not been following the law and thus, allowing criminals to get away with metal theft. This coordinated statewide effort trains law enforcement and scrapyard dealers. Special Investigations Department agents inspect scrapyards to ensure non-precious metal is properly registered, and they issue citations for noncompliance.
