The Office of the Attorney General is one of the largest law firms in the State with more than 200 employees serving Arkansans. As Arkansas’s lawyer and chief law enforcement officer, the Attorney General provides legal representation for the state of Arkansas, its officers, agencies, boards, and commissions. The Attorney General defends the state and its laws in litigation, initiates lawsuits when necessary to protect the state’s interests, represents the state’s interests in criminal cases on appeal, investigates fraud in the Medicaid program, issues legal advice through formal written opinions to authorized public officials and agencies, and educates Arkansans about their rights as consumers.
