Our attorneys regularly appear in state and federal courts, litigating challenges involving elections, education, administrative law, separation of powers, civil rights, and other issues of statewide importance. **Position Overview**
As an Assistant Attorney General in the Special Litigation Section, you’ll play a key role in defending Arkansas’s laws and representing the State in complex constitutional and administrative litigation in state trial courts and federal district courts. You will work on emerging constitutional issues and other complex cases with vital importance to our citizens and the future of our State and Nation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Argue motions before trial courts and participate in important trials.
- Research and draft persuasive motions and briefs.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Draft and respond to discovery requests.
- Advise and consult with other divisions in the Attorney General’s Office on important legal issues and strategic considerations.
- Counsel and collaborate with state agencies, boards, commissions, and elected officials on complex legal issues, litigation strategy, and matters of statewide importance.
- Assist with appeals before the Arkansas Supreme Court and the Eighth Circuit.
**Qualifications**
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Arkansas law license or ability to obtain one promptly.
- Clerkship experience or litigation experience involving constitutional or federal matters preferred.
- Exceptional legal writing, research, and oral-advocacy skills.
- Outstanding academic record.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
