The Office of Attorney General Tim Griffin is seeking to hire an experienced legal assistant/paralegal to join his dynamic team in the Consumer Protection Division.
The Consumer Protection Division protects consumers and the legitimate business community from deceptive trade practices, unfair business practices, and excessive utility rates or charges; mediates disputes between consumers and businesses; and educates the public regarding consumer issues. The Attorney General investigates and sues bad actors in Arkansas and Federal courts and often works with other Arkansas and Federal agencies and with other state attorneys general.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of an associate degree in paralegal studies or an equivalent educational pursuit. Preference given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree and/or a paralegal certification.
All candidates must have a minimum of five years civil litigation experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal. Preference will be given to candidates with experience drafting and assisting with the preparation of responses to interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and requests for admissions. Must have experience creating routine pleadings and motions, as well as experience with electronic filing and calendaring systems.
All candidates should have experience drafting correspondence, scheduling client meetings, and maintaining electronic calendars for attorneys. All candidates must be able to proficiently use all basic computer programs including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
All candidates must have verifiable experience successfully working with multiple attorneys in a fast paced and document intensive environment. All candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the process of a lawsuit.
