Attorney General Griffin Announces Arrest in Public Integrity Investigation

Griffin: ‘Public officials are obligated to act in the public interest, not to enrich themselves or subsidize their lifestyles’

LITTLE ROCK – Attorney General Tim Griffin today issued the following statement on the arrest of Horseshoe Bend Municipal Recreation Improvement District (MRID) employee Josh Jackson, 39, on three felony counts resulting from a public integrity investigation conducted by the office’s Special Investigations Division:

“Public officials are obligated to act in the public interest, not to enrich themselves or subsidize their lifestyles. I am grateful to Special Agent Steve Moore of our Public Integrity Unit for his work leading to the arrest of Jackson. My office will continue to pursue investigations like these to maintain the trust of Arkansans in those who serve the public.”

Jackson surrendered himself at the Izard County Jail on November 27 and was charged with Theft of Property (Class B felony), Forgery (Class C felony) and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card (Class D felony) stemming from his use of an MRID credit card.

Jackson is a former Horseshoe Bend city councilman, and these allegations, although unrelated to his position as councilman, occurred while he served on the city council.
