Mr. Curtis Johnson
1SGT (Retired) Curtis Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard in 1947, where he stayed and served for 43 years.
Curtis began his military career in Charlie Company, 1-153rdInfantry, in Prescott. He continued to serve in that unit until it changed to Alpha Company, 1-153rd Infantry years later. He was promoted to 1SGT in 1987 and assigned to Combat Service Company, 1-153rd in Sheridan.
Curtis was mobilized during the Central High School crisis and also during the unrest following Martin Luther King's assassination.
As a civilian soldier, Curtis has worked in Prescott all his life and retired from Potlach Lumber Company in 1992. With his passion to serve, Curtis has served on the Nevada County Quorum Court for 42 years, the Prescott Lions Club for 56 years and as a deacon in his church for over 50 years.
Curtis is the father of Tim Johnson, the Senior Representative of Military and Veterans Affairs for the Attorney Generals office.
