The Consumer Protection Division assists Arkansas consumers and the legitimate business community through education, mediation, and litigation. Members of the Consumer Protection Division travel the state to educate consumers on how to protect their personal and financial information during business transactions. When disputes arise during consumer transactions, the Attorney General staff may help by contacting a business and mediating a positive resolution. In other instances, attorneys pursue lawsuits against those who violate the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, antitrust laws, the Arkansas Personal Information Protection Act, and other state and federal consumer protection laws. The Consumer Protection Division also enforces the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement.
