Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention

Prescription drug misuse and abuse continues to be a growing problem exacerbated by the availability of drugs in homes of friends and family.

Take Back Days

Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies participate in the Prescription Drug Take Back Days held each spring and fall. Arkansans can safely dispose of their unused prescriptions at collection sites located across Arkansas.

The sites are staffed by law enforcement officers. By securely disposing of unused prescription drugs, Arkansans can help the fight against prescription drug abuse and keep pills out of the hands of abusers, and the drugs are securely disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

Visit the Arkansas Take Back website for information about the events, year-round drop-off locations and ways to help prevent prescription drug misuse and abuse.

The Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Behavioral Health Services can advise Arkansans of drug-prevention resources available in each county. That office may be reached at (501) 686-9030.
